Tohoku University Technology: Metal Glass Thermal Spraying Technology: T11-074
The formation of metal glass thermal spray coatings enables the production of complex-shaped products and larger sizes!
Metallic glass has faced challenges in producing large bulk bodies while maintaining homogeneous properties. This technology relates to a method for manufacturing metallic glass laminates characterized by "the solidification and layering of an amorphous phase metallic glass powder, with at least a portion of the metallic glass powder in a supercooled liquid state on the substrate surface, forming an amorphous phase metallic glass layer on the substrate surface." It is a technique that allows for the application of metallic glass as a coating through thermal spraying, enabling the potential use of metallic glass in complex-shaped components and large parts.
